bLAcK TECH DAY

Founded by Dexter Simms, Black Tech Day has quickly established itself as a pivotal event in the UK tech landscape. Over the past 11 months, the event has successfully hosted two weekend gatherings, drawing in significant partners and receiving outstanding feedback from attendees. The event focuses on empowering Black professionals and young people by offering them access to cutting-edge technology, education, and networking opportunities. With high-profile speakers and interactive workshops, Black Tech Day is not only a celebration but also a crucial platform for driving diversity and inclusion within the tech industry.

Mula Cake Kids Club

In 2014, Dexter Simms founded Mula Cake Kids Club CIC. Thanks to support from The National Lottery, the club has earned high praise as a centre that fosters and inspires children. Mula Cake Kids Club takes pride in providing children with a hot, healthy meal every day, in addition to offering mindful education. The club operates as a workshop-based program that takes place during holidays and has the sole aim of inspiring young people to become entrepreneurs.

Mula Cake Clothing

Established in London in 2013, Mula Cake Clothing Ltd has made a name for itself by proudly creating and delivering over 86 pop-up shops across the UK. During this period, customers could contact Mr. Simms directly 24 hours a day to purchase his clothing line. Dexter Simms would personally deliver the orders himself, either by car or on foot, as he highly values seeing people wearing his brand.

Mula Cake Ltd is thrilled to announce that since October 2017, Mula Cake Clothing now has a flagship shop located at 7 Brigstock Parade, London Road, CR7 7HW. With nearly 10 years of hands-on experience in the clothing business, a lot of hard work, and unwavering dedication, this brand is fully operational and poised to make a significant impact on the world.

MULA CAKE COMMUNITY HUB

Dexter Simms recognised the increase in knife crime on our streets and the decreasing number of community centers and youth clubs. He saw the need for a safe haven for local youth where they could have a positive place to spend their time and less opportunity to be influenced by negativity while hanging out on street corners. As a result, the CEO of Mula Cake transformed his personal retail business premises located in Thornton Heath on London Road into a creative Community Hub, providing a safe and positive space for young people to gather and engage in productive activities.

Lambeth Tigers

Twelve years ago, Dexter Simms and David Mariott decided to build a football team, The Lambeth Tigers. Their vision was to one day turn it into an Academy. The team won endless games and survived on little or no government funding. Both black British men have made a great achievement to turn 13 teams, 10 coaches and over 60 children signed tot professional contracts. These individuals have gone on to receive over 100 cups, trophies and medals. This has had a massive impact on the Lambeth community by providing opportunities, building self-confidence and job vacancies for others. This shows the level of commitment that both black British men have shown to help other peoples future.

Suits & Tracksuits

Dexter and Javed grew up on the same street, attended the same school, and were in the same class. However, when they graduated, their paths diverged: Dexter went one way, and Javed went another. Javed attended Harvard and Brunel university then went in to work for Microsoft whilst Dexter became an award-winning entrepreneur and investor running multiply companies and providing opportunities to the masses.

Now, 25 years later, both have achieved similar accolades, with one preferring suits and the other tracksuits.
